Distilled from agriculture, the essence of my inspiration is home. The materials I work with are gathered and transported by bus from our farm in Wexford to the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. My practice stems from the claw of the milking machine, which led to an investigation into animals and how humans became property owners and animals became property. I have continued to push my work in order to create awareness of how we treat animals and the issues farmers are dealing with. "Hear the Hunger" is a response to the fodder crisis that dominated Ireland during spring of 2018. It is made of balls of net wrap intertwined with scraps of hay, silage and straw. The net wrap signifies the emptiness while highlighting the lack of fodder as it is all that remains. Inside is two speakers, relaying sounds from the farm recorded during the "hungry month". The work reflects extensive research into Dorothy Cross and Maria McKinney. While comparing Temple Grandin's philosophy with animal activists believes like Lesli Bisgould. I am interested in the viewer's' perception of home, and their opinions on animal husbandry.
